1.Who we are
WhoGoWin (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs whogowin.app, a social prediction app where people make probability calls on questions about sport, music, culture, business and public life. We are responsible for the personal information described here.
WhoGoWin is not a betting or gambling service. No money is staked, paid out or won.
2.Information we collect
Information you give us
- Sign-in details: your phone number or email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from them. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one.
- Profile: your handle, optional display name, country and city.
- Activity: the communities you join, people you follow, your calls (the probability you choose and any reason you add), replies, and questions you submit.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Session cookies: small cookies that keep you signed in. They are essential for the service to work.
- A call made before signing in: if you make a call without an account, we keep it in a cookie on your device (just the question and your number) for up to a day, so it can be saved when you sign in.
- Our own usage measurement: a first-party cookie with a random ID lets us count steps such as viewing a question, making a call, signing in and sharing, so we can see where people drop off. If you arrived from a shared link, we note the short code in that link to see which shares bring people in. This data stays with us and is not used for advertising.
- Technical logs: our hosting providers record details such as IP address, browser type and the time of requests, to run the service securely and fix problems.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
3.How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, including sending sign-in codes by SMS or email.
- To run the service: show your calls, build community consensus, and calculate your track record when questions resolve.
- To show how groups see things differently, such as how one country or city compares with another.
- To review submitted questions, moderate content and keep the community safe.
- To respond to you, and to send important service messages (for example, changes to these terms).
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We rely on these reasons under data protection law: providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in running and improving a safe service, your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligations.
4.What other people can see
WhoGoWin is a social app, so some things are public by design:
- Public: your handle, display name, city and country on your profile; the communities you belong to; your calls and reasons on question pages; your replies; and your track record once you have enough resolved calls.
- Only shown in groups: country and city breakdowns are shown only when at least 5 people are in that group, so no single person’s location stands out.
- Never public: your phone number and email address.
Think before posting anything personal in a reason or reply, because other people can see and share it.
6.International transfers
Our providers store and process data outside Ghana, including in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. When we transfer information, we use providers with appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual terms, to protect it.
7.How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days. We may keep aggregated statistics that no longer identify you, and a limited record where the law requires it.
Your calls may remain in community totals after deletion, but they will no longer be linked to you.
8.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information, including under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and similar laws in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and elsewhere. These include the right to:
- access the information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct information that is wrong (you can edit your profile at any time);
- delete your account and personal information;
- object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@whogowin.app and include your handle. We may need to confirm it’s you before acting on a request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Ghana, that is the Data Protection Commission.
9.Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls on our database (each person can only change their own data), and one-time sign-in codes instead of passwords. No online service is perfectly secure, so please keep access to your phone and email safe, and tell us at privacy@whogowin.app if you think your account has been misused.
10.Age limit
WhoGoWin is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as WhoGoWin grows. We will change the “last updated” date and, for significant changes, let you know in the app before they take effect.
